in the avenues of your old hometown the dead will speak again i promise you this: on your walk to work or from the empty windows of an old apartment in your own clothes in your television set i promise you this: the dead will speak again we are threaded on a string stretched between twin magnetic poles a pair of hydrogen bombs staring back at each other from our bedroom windows on every street corner there is still that secret thing, burning down here the dead don't grow their wings and i'm dying to see you again play it over again i want to hear it like i did before solid gold on the old car stereo sweet as nectar the world is unfamiliar and the streets are wet with rain i promise you this: the dead will speak again

about

"Straddling Manchester’s eastern border with Auburn, Lake Massabesic is a natural treasure: more than four square miles of placid freshwater lake, wetlands and mixed forests a world away from the hustle and bustle of New Hampshire’s largest metropolis...

The lake is the setting of many local legends and rumors. It is said that Passaconaway, legendary figure of the early colonial era, died here in the late 1660s. The old man, knowing his death was near, rowed his canoe out into the center of the lake, where he was struck by lightning and immediately vaporized."
